Munich Re’s American headquarters, located in Princeton, NJ, comprises four buildings on a suburban campus.  Granum was retained to provide strategic planning and workplace consulting for two of the buildings totaling 265 KSF and housing 1,000 employees.

 

The process began with development of a high level program that identified Munich Re’s goals for the workplace, relevant HR policies, technical capabilities, and staff projections for a five-year horizon.  This information was used to develop three different occupancy strategies for the organization.  They included a fully open scenario as well as two options for various size offices and workstations. 

 

Integral to this work was a revisioning of campus support and amenity spaces.  The cafeteria was re-visioned as a social hub to support informal meetings throughout the day, and a “tech bar” was added to the public area to allow staff quick access to IT support.
